A woman didn’t notice anything unusual after leaving her friend’s house in Massachusetts until a light came on inside her car while she was driving. That’s when she saw a man hiding with a coat pulled over his head in her back seat, according to Yarmouth Police Department.
Jailton Dos Santos, 36, of South Yarmouth, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering into a vehicle in the nighttime, the police department said.
Once she noticed Dos Santos in her car, police said the unidentified woman was “extremely frightened” and began “driving erratically.” The man fell out of the open rear car door.
A Yarmouth police officer patrolling near the Route 6 exit ramp just before 1 a.m. saw the woman standing outside of it attempting to dial 911. Police said she was scared when talking with the officer.
“The Yarmouth Police would like to remind everyone to make sure they lock their unattended vehicles, especially at night,” police said on Facebook.
