Joshua Shacklewood, a missing 19-year-old college student from Cambridge, was last seen leaving for his morning class at 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, according to the Cambridge Police Department.
The department is now seeking the public’s help in finding Shacklewood. Cambridge police stated Shacklewood attends Bunker Hill Community College and lives with his parents.
Shacklewood is described as being 5-feet, 7-inches tall and 120 pounds, and having brown eyes and black hair. The 19-year-old also wears glasses, the department stated, and was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, black sneakers and a knit Patriots hat.
The department stated on Twitter that Shacklewood is “non-verbal with everyone except for his parents. Cambridge Police’s Public Information Officer Jeremy Warnick clarified that Shacklewood is a “very shy” person and “often” did not speak to people in public.
Warnick said the 19-year-old’s parents said Shacklewood spends a lot of time in libraries; specifically, he is often at the Copley Library in Cambridge, and the main Cambridge Public Library. The officer stated the department has “been working very closely with library staff” to conduct its own searches at the libraries Shacklewood was known to frequent.
Warnick added the department has also been investigating into Shacklewood’s disappearance in the greater Boston area. The department is encouraging residents and the general public in the areas near Cambridge libraries to keep an eye out for Shacklewood, Warnick said.
The department’s tweet stated, “Anyone who sees Shacklewood or may have information about his whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately or the Cambridge Police Department at 617-349-3300.”
