A 36-year-old Worcester man was arrested Sunday morning in connection with an Oxford Street shooting, police said.
Jesus Torres was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of a firearm without an FID card and trespassing. Torres also had an outstanding warrant, Worcester police said.
Around 4:45 a.m., police responded to the Oxford Street area after an alert from ShotSpotter, a gunshot detection system. At the scene, officers found evidence that shots had been fired, police said.
While investigating, officers found a man standing on a porch of a home in the area of the shooting. Officers determined the man, who was identified as Jesus Torres, did not live at the home, which had a “no trespassing” sign posted.
Officers found a handgun near where Torres was standing and took him into custody, police said.
Torres does not have a license to carry, police said.
