March is shaping up to be a very big month for Jakobi Meyers’ bank account.
In ESPN’s Top 50 free agent rankings, Meyers came in at No. 21 overall, but was the highest-rated wide receiver on the list. Wide outs have started getting funny money — hello, Christian Kirk — and Meyers could be next in line on the open market.

“A nuanced route runner with strong hands and a 6-foot-2 frame, Meyers caught 47 of his 67 targets on throws inside the numbers this season, setting a career high with six touchdowns,” Matt Bowen writes. “He’s an intermediate target in the pass game with outside flex and has the ability to stretch defenses on seams and deep over routes. A former undrafted free agent, Meyers emerged as New England’s No. 1 option over the past two seasons. He could get a chance to cash in this spring.”
The next ranking wide receiver is JuJu Smith-Schuster at No. 27, six spots behind Meyers. A couple former Patriots quarterbacks are on the list, too, as Tom Brady is No. 7 and Jimmy Garoppolo is No. 25.
As far as Meyers goes, the veteran said he’d “definitely, definitely” welcome a return to New England, but there’s a good chance he’ll wind up getting more than Bill Belichick is willing to pay on the open market. That was MassLive’s best guess in our offensive free agent predictions.
“When that time comes I’ll cross that bridge,” Meyers said after the season finale in Buffalo. “Whether I’m here or I’m not here, I’ll tell all the guys that I appreciate them. Because the locker room changes regardless of whether I’m here or not. So tell everybody that I appreciate them and embrace these couple moments with the guys.”
