HOLYOKE – The 70th Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade grand marshal will be Jane Coughlin Chevalier who will help lead the parade on March 19.

A reception in her honor was held at the Log Cabin Banquet & Meeting House on Friday, with more than 250 people in attendance.

The grand marshal of the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade is the highest honor given to a person of Irish ancestry who is either a resident of Holyoke or a member of the St. Patrick’s Committee of Holyoke.

Coughlin Chevalier, of South Hadley, follows in the footsteps of her late father, Edward “Pop” Coughlin, who was grand marshal in 1992.

A Holyoke native, Coughlin Chevalier joined the committee in 1998, continuing a family tradition that began with her father.

Coughlin Chevalier helmed the parade committee’s board of directors, received the Rohan Award in 2011, and served as committee president in 2014. In addition, she assisted with the Memorial Mass, road race and Parade Coordination Committee.

Coughlin Chevalier directs the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office Victim Witness Advocate Unit and chairs the Massachusetts Children’s Alliance board of directors. She and her husband, Thomas Chevalier, are parents to two grown children and have one granddaughter.

Members of the Grand Marshal Reception Committee include Hayley Dunn, Stephanie Joyce, John Beaulieu, Shane Hall and Devin Sheehan.
