SOUTHWICK – Three years since final exams were last taken by students at Southwick Regional School, they may be brought back next month for the first time since the earliest stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
When students at SRS last took a final exam at the end of a semester, the world had just been getting to understand what we now know as COVID-19 in January 2020. About halfway through the following semester, the pandemic forced the closure of schools to in-person learning, and final exams were canceled at the end of the semester due to the severe disruption to the learning process.
Now, as the pandemic seems to be on the backburner, Southwick Regional School Principal Joseph Turmel said that it is time for final exams to return for students, though they could count as a smaller percentage of one’s grade.
