A winter storm left at least several inches of snow across much of Central and Western Massachusetts from midday Sunday through early Monday morning, including more than half a foot of accumulation in parts of the Berkshires, weather officials said.
The heavier snow favored the areas further from the coast, according to snowfall totals reported to the National Weather Service, which showed about an inch of snow at Logan International Airport in Boston, 3 to 4 inches in the Worcester area, and more than six inches in parts of Western Massachusetts.
By 10 p.m. Sunday, many areas west of Interstate 91 had at least 4 to 6 inches of snow, with more flakes expected before midnight. Pockets of the Berkshires had 6 to 8 inches of accumulation or more, the National Weather Service said.
The snowfall totals got progressively shallower further east. At 10 p.m., the Weather Service reported 3 to 4 inches of snow in the Worcester area, 2 to 3 inches in Foxborough and 1 to 2 inches in Boston.
