Anyone who loves pets hopes they live a healthy and long life surrounded by loving people or a family. When animals arrive at Dakin, our staff and volunteers who care for them show their devotion by helping future adoptees begin their journey home to people excitedly waiting for them. From that point forward, their new families experience the joy of their companionship.
Some animals don’t spend much time at Dakin at all; they arrive in good health and are quickly adopted. However, the majority of our animals end up staying for longer periods of time undergoing medical treatments and behavioral evaluations. When the day comes that those animals find their families, there is great happiness and a celebration of the challenge they overcame to find their way home. Here are some of our favorite stories.
