Democratic U.S. Representative Stephen Lynch, representing Massachusetts’ 8th Congressional District is being challenged by Republican Robert Burke.
Lynch faced no primary opposition, while Burke defeated fellow Republican Hamilton Rodrigues with more than 70% of the vote.
Lynch has served in Congress since 2001 following the death of Congressman John Joseph Moakley. Prior to his work in Congress, Lynch worked for 18 years as an ironworkers and was elected president of the Iron Workers Union. Lynch cofounded the Congressional Labor and Working Families Caucus, “which was formed to protect workers’ rights and educate members of Congress on issues that impact American families,” according to his U.S. House website.
Burke claims that “reckless spending has caused the inflation crisis,” on his campaign website. He said he opposes “open borders,” abortion and “lock downs” on the site.
