Church tag sale
Westfield – Holy Trinity Church, 331 Elm St. will be having its annual “Giant Tag Sale” on Saturday, Oct. 8, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the parish hall. There will be a big selection of items at bargain prices including adult and children’s clothing, shoes, women’s accessories, jewelry, household items, linens, toys, knick-knacks, holiday themed merchandise, pots and pans, games, fishing, and sports equipment and much more. Use rear entrance with handicapped accessible ramp from the parking lot to the right of the church.
Walk for oneness
Springfield – The Springfield Baha’i Community will host a “Walk for Oneness” in Forest Park on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. Those interested in participating will assemble on the lawn behind the Forest Park Zoo, with the walk beginning at 10 a.m. The program will include activities for children, designing t-shirts and signs representing oneness and unity. The Baha’i Faith is an independent world religion established in 1863. Baha’ is believe in the oneness of mankind. Members of the faith believe that the old barriers that have divided people from one another-lesser identities of race, culture, language, nationality, caste, rank, class, gender, religion and so forth-should be set aside in the larger quest for unity among all people.
Church farmers’ market
Springfield – Every Sunday Holy Cross Church, 221 Plumtree Road has a family friendly Farmers’ Market through Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weather permitting. Come for the fresh produce, homemade baked goods, and hand-crafted items. There is a free ticket for unique raffle items for attending and lawn games for everyone.
Monthly spaghetti dinner
Ludlow – St. Elizabeth Parish, Hubbard Street, next spaghetti dinner will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the St. John the Baptist Pastoral Center. Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children under 10.
Catholic Women’s Club Rosary
Agawam – The Catholic Women’s Club of Agawam invites everyone to join their members in praying the Rosary on Tuesday, Oct. 11 in St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main St. It will begin at 6 p.m., but members are requested to arrive by 5:30 p.m. Refreshments and the club’s monthly business meeting will follow in the church hall. All Catholic women residing in Agawam/Feeding Hills or members of one of their Catholic parishes are invited to become members of the club.
Mary’s House of Prayer Senior Retreat
Chicopee – A Marian Senior Retreat entitled “Mary Co-Redempirix, Our Gateway into Heaven,” sponsored by Mary’s House of Prayer Women of Grace will be held Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Jericho Celebration Center, 537 Northampton St., Holyoke. Registration and breakfast will be from 8 to 9 a.m., Retreat from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Retreat leader will be Rev. Michael Twohig, Pastor of St. Therese of Lisieux Parish in South Hadley. Cost is $20 per person, which includes a hot lunch at Hamel’s. There will be Mass and Confessions. French meat pies
Ludlow – The meat pie project at St. Elizabeth Parish, is back after 2 years. The meat pie project begins on Oct. 12 and runs through Nov. 4 (except Mondays). These are 5″ individual fully cooked pies and the cost is $4 per pie while supplies last. To order, call St. Elizabeth Parish rectory at 413-583-3467 until Oct. 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday only. After Oct. 12, call the Pastoral Center at 413-547-0239, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday to Friday. You may pick up your meat pies Tuesday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the center. When you place your order, please let them know the approximate date and time you will pick up your pies. Please avoid the times of 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. to pick up your pies due to school dismissal.
Vigil for the unborn
Springfield – Catholics for the Unborn will hold a pro-life vigil on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral, State Street. The vigil beings with Exposition, Recitation of the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, Adoration, and Benediction at noon, followed by daily Mass at 12:10 p.m. For more information, contact Carolee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Church tag sale
Agawam – The Agawam Congregational Church will hold a tag sale on Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days. The tag sale will have items donated by church members, including estates type items. The tag sale features clothing, toys, games, kitchen and household items, books, and much more. The church is located at 745 Main St.
Chicopee – St. Stanislaus Basilica, 534Front St. will hold its bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the school hall. There will be live music from Heritage Pops Polka Band from noon to 2 p.m. and Sara the Fiddler from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be Polish foods, games, baked goods, raffles, gift baskets and more.
Holyoke – Our Lady of the Cross will hold it’s fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with live music from the Eddie Forman Orchestra, on Oct. 22 from 1 to 5 p.m. Featuring Polish and American Food, various booths, games and vendors. Polish plate dinner
Springfield – Immaculate Conception Church, will hold a Polish plate dinner (4 pierogi, 1 golabek, kielbasa, kapusta, rye bread) on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 3 to 6 p.m. For dine-in or take out. Agawam – The Agawam Congregational Church is having a “Holly Wreath Bazaar,” on Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. This will feature a country store, bakery, farmers market, raffle table, crafters, café and Christmas Corner. For the crafters, there is space for an 8-foot table and chairs available for $25 a table, 2 tables $35, provided by the church. UCC Holyoke is looking for choir members
Holyoke – After a two-year break, United Congregational Church of Holyoke choir is back, under new direction and looking for new members. New music director Dorothy Claire Glover invites the community to join the choir, which will meet for rehearsals on Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m., at UCC Holyoke. They have altos, tenors and basses, but are in need of some soprano voices. Auditions are not required to join the choir and new members are welcomed at any time. Upcoming bus trip
Springfield – Sacred Heart Church Travel Club presents a trip to New York City to either see a Broadway play or just to visit NYC on your own on Saturday, Nov. 5. Cost for bus only $76. Broadway cost will depend on the show you wish to see. That cost will be determined by the group tour agent.
