Officials have identified the woman struck and killed by a vehicle in Sturbridge on Friday, Aug. 26.
Debra Lavallee, 62, of Brimfield, was identified as the victim killed in the crash near 709 Main St.
Sturbridge first responders received a report of a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian near 709 Main St. at 1:20 a.m., the Sturbridge Police Department said.
When they arrived at the scene they found a woman who was unresponsive and injured over the embankment in the woods.
She was declared dead at the scene, police said.
An initial investigation into the crash suggests a single motor vehicle was driving eastbound on Main Street when it moved into the breakdown lane and struck the woman.
The man who was driving stopped and called the police to report what happened, officials said.
Lavallee worked as a quality assurance inspector at G&F Industries for 30 years. She enjoyed traveling, horses, fishing and the wilderness, according to her obituary.
