What do you get when you mix spicy, savory and sweet? A vegan PB&J burger of course.
Although a not so typical approach to the all-American burger, SoulFully Vegan is creating a twist of unlikely parings of bold flavors.
The PB&J burger is one of the items SoulFully Vegan is bringing to the Big E in September on new England Avenue. Along with their 100% vegan, flame grilled burgers they will also be showcasing their grilled hot dogs, loaded fries and milkshakes — all vegan.
“It sounds crazy, we know,” co-owner Allison Vaughan told MassLive about the burger.
But Vaughan said to try it before you make a judgement.
On the bottom of the burger you’ll find a jalapeño jelly, where sweet and spicy flavors collide. On the top of the meatless burger, peanut butter meets vegan oat milk cheese creating a blend of gooey cheesiness, Vaughan said.
But this isn’t the only burger SoulFully Vegan is bringing this year. The establishment also has their Soulful Burger that comes with a lightly spicy jerk sauce with fried plantains on it, paying homage to their soul food inspiration.

MassLive’s Nick O’Malley said although a vegan food, it has that caramelized off-the-grill taste to it, making for a smokey sweet flavor.
